What you need to know about Scandinavian moss? – Part II

(Continues from blog post from 9th April 2024)

Gluing Scandinavian moss

Once you’ve got what you need, it’s time to glue. If the man is machined, use a staple gun or wood glue to attach the plywood base to your chosen frame. Then create your work of art with your chosen combinations of different elements. Use a silicone glue gun to attach the treated Scandinavian moss to the plywood base.
If you are gluing live moss, then you will need to create a pocket with leaf moss – glue the bottom and sides of a square of leaf moss and leave the top open. Then place air plants and bromeliads in that spot. It is important to be able to remove them easily, for periodic watering so as not to disturb the integrity of the wall.

Scandinavian moss maintenance

Maintenance is not difficult and does not require special care. More frequent airing is required so that the moss can get the moisture it needs. Depending on where or how you installed the Scandinavian moss, there is an option to manually supply the required humidity – if it is visibly dry, simply use a sprayer to water it.

Health benefits of moss

Scandinavian moss in the interior helps regulate humidity and prevents the appearance of mold and harmful microorganisms. In addition, it is undeniable that the presence of greenery in the room you live in significantly reduces the level of stress and increases work productivity. Plants also affect the skin because they keep it hydrated. Here are the most important benefits of having Scandinavian moss at home:

Improved air quality
Moss is particularly effective in combating air pollution. Pollutants from rain and air adhere to the surface of the moss, and while there, the bacteria are converted into the plant’s biomass.

Improved work performance
Researchers have found that people demonstrate more innovative thinking and successful work when located in a space that includes Scandinavian moss.

Less stress
The presence of any kind of plants in workplaces does reduce general stress among employees.

Noise reduction
Vegetation naturally blocks high-frequency sounds, while the supporting structure reduces low-frequency noises. Results of studies worldwide show that plants can reduce ambient noise in workplaces by up to 5 decibels.

Good for skincare
Live plants keep skin hydrated and help with healthier skin, fewer wrinkles, and faster wound healing.

Reduced energy costs

Evapotranspiration is the process that makes it possible for areas around moss walls to be cooler during the summer months. This means that in winter, moss walls provide an extra layer of insulation to indoor spaces, helping to reduce heating costs. Through evapotranspiration, water makes its way through the moss, and then evaporates into the surrounding atmosphere.
